In 1970 he graduated from Latvian State University.
Area of scientific interests are optical characteristics of heterostructures, engineering defects,processes to crystallizations in unequal conditions, optical characteristics of structures with lowered by dimensionality on arsenide a gallium, nanocrystals in amorphous and polycrystalline films silicon.
He is a coauthor more than 200 publications in leading domestic and International scientific journals, amongst of them are three collective monographs.
